Ireland travel question

We are traveling to Ireland from 21st to 28th of August. This is obviously a very short trip. We are going to rent a car and this is the itinerary we are wroking on. Obviously some places will be shorter than others but I would like to know if this is realistic?
Arrive in Dublin on August 21st from London late pm. Relax walk around and have dinner.
Day 1- Dublin
Day2-Wicklow and Kilkenny
Day3-Waterford and Cork (stay the night in Kinsale)
Day4- county Kerry (stay the night in Kinmare
Day5- County Clare(stay the night in Ennis
Day6- Return to Dublin early morning and do more I'm Dublin in the afternoon and night
Day7- Return to U.S

Thanks for any suggestions or answers

This seems like way too much, too fast. You can do a one night stay here or there in Ireland, bearing in mind that it will take you half a day to get from place to place in a lot of cases. But I would not advise doing so many right in a row. I stayed in Cork on the tail end of a business trip in 2010 and it's entirely skippable. Dublin is good for three nights (two full days). We did five nights in Dublin and six nights with a rental car covering much the same territory that you are describing (minus Waterford), and it was great but too rushed.

Thanks for your reply. I am glad I asked. Will have to revise my plans.

If I wanted to do more in Dublin, let's say three or four days there, where do you suggest I can spend time in the following couple of days that is doable and not far and not too much driving around.

Although I did not have a car when I was in Ireland this does sound like far too much driving and not enough sight seeing. I also would not bother with Cork. I am also going to suggest that for this trip you probably don't need the car. If you want to spend a few days in Dublin there are guided day trips you can do south to Glendalough, and north to Newgrange and Monasterboice. Then you could spend a couple of days just touring around Dublin. For a couple days elsewhere then either Kilkenny or Galway are easy to get to by train.

I also think your plan is too much in too little time. Following are some suggestions that tweak your plans. But the suggestions to re-think and not travel as much around the country are very worth considering.

Can you reschedule your arrival from London to the morning? It will help. If you can, I'd get a car at the airport and head right to your Day 2 and leave the Day 1 time in Dublin for the end. Even if you can't reschedule, consider saving all the time in Dublin for the end, it saves having to deal with the car while you're there and/or the time of picking one up the day you leave.
On Day 2, prioiorirtize what you want, and probably go with only one stop in Wicklow, I'd suggest Glendalough. Trying for another stop in Wiclow e.g. Powerscourt) will be too much. With an early start from Dublin you can stop at Glendalough for a few hours and get to Kilkenny in the early evening.
Day 3 I'd suggest Cork only and skip Waterford. Or, drop Cork if you're more set on Waterford. Or drop both, I'm not sure they have enough interest to make a stop on such an abbreviated trip.
Days 4/5 You're not going to have a lot of time to do anything on these days but drive to your next stay. If you can squeeze another day, consider driving to Dingle on Day 4, starting early for the Slea Head Drive on Day 5 and then stay in Ennis. Or stay in Kenmare on Day 4 and start early on the Ring of Kerry (I prefer Dingle/Slea Head).
Day 6 Prioritize what you want to do to a single item in County Clare. You can probably see the Cliffs of Moher and get to Dublin at the end of a long day.

Still very full, bit more manageable. The suggestions to re-thimnk everything and stick close to Dublin are good also, perhaps combined with a day or two to Galway and a day trip out of there.

Thanks. Yes this seems more manageable. Will work out some of the suggestions here.
