Ireland: only 6 full days help with itinerary please!

First time to Ireland (late Sept/early Oct), please provide your input/advice:

-Fly into Dublin, Friday afternoon (2pm) . Spend evening going to dinner/pub

-Saturday & Sunday touring Dublin

-Monday early am get car & drive to Kilkenny for lunch & castle visit; continue to Kinsale.

-Stay Monday night thru Wednesday am in Kinsale to visit and Cork. (too long for 2 nights?)

-Wednesday morning drive to Dingle, thru Peninsula drive, overnight there

Here is where things get squirrely or really me being over ambitious.. we have Thursday left and then fly out of Shannon Friday at noon. Do we go to Aran Islands and then overnight near Shannon (or somewhere else nearby Limerick?), bypassing Galway? What about Ashford Castle? We will go back to Ireland on another trip, family lives in Norway, thus visit frequently.

I would add another night to Dingle. You are driving from Kinsale to Dingle and then planning to do Slea Head Drive? This seems to me too much driving. Add another night to Dingle and then spend your last night near Shannon airport.

Hello from Ireland! I agree with the previous poster about spending extra time in Dingle. You are already doing a lot of driving (Dublin to Kinsale is a LONG stretch) and you will be glad to have at least a few days where the driving is minimised. I think you have to leave out Galway and Ashford Castle on this trip (and I say that as a Galwegian!) It's not worth driving all the way from Dingle to Galway/Ashford Castle to only spend one night there, and then have to backtrack the next morning to Shannon.
I am not sure I would want to spend Thursday night in Dingle though. You could spend the day there, but if I were you I would get closer to Shannon on Thursday night. Limerick is good; Ennis is better. You'll be closer to the airport that way. Enjoy your trip!

Thanks kindly for the advice. We are staying on the peninsula Wed. night as not to make the whole trek in one day and then continuing Thursday. Ending up closer to Shannon airport for our already booked flight out Friday.
