Hi All! We had some challenges with planing our trip . We finally get it together and that’s how it looks.

If you can review it and give me some feedback it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Day1: fly into Dublin 7am. Enjoy Dublin.

Sleep in Dublin

Day2: Take an early start, drive towards Ennis ( about 3hrs, right?). See Cliffs of Moher, Burren( walking tour if time let’s us) , Alwiee Caves.

Sleep in Ennis. ( do I need to take something off that or add something on the way from Dublin?).

Day3: leave early for Dingle.( what the better way: take a ferry or go via Limerick? Which way is the fastest and which is more scenic ?)

Do the ring of Dingle , enjoy the night in Dingle .

Sleeping in Dingle.

Day4: leave towards Kenmare. Spend day in Killarney National Park.

Sleeping in Kenmare.

Day5: been flexible and allow to continue with KNP.then leave to Killkany via rock of ROC.

Spend evening in Killkany.

  • should we leave early from Kenmare to spend more time in Killkany? Should we skip ROC.

Sleeping in Killkany.

Day6: at night we have a flight to Edinburgh( around 9pm.) Leaving from Killkany early morning what we going to have time for?) My thinking we can visit Glendalough and Powerscourt. Flying to Edinburgh

Too much driving and one night stays for me.
I would pick two places and stay for three nights each. Close to Dublin, either heading north or south.

It is ambitious and busy. Personally I'd cut back. So much of what makes our trips special to us is in personal exploring, interaction with locals and finding "targets of opportunity"......which abound everywhere. For example Sunday a wonderful local we were talking to mentioned there was an ancient stone circle, a henge, in a nearby field. Had NO clue. We went and had an amazing time wandering the ruins with no other tourists just a herd of sheep. It was haunting and beautiful and actually better than many so called must see sights.

You have great spots picked out - and it is doable but you might want to cut back a bit to increase the enjoyment exponentially. It's an individual thing. By the way Glendalough IS a must see if at all possible. Wow what a place, just try to get there late in the day after crowds leave....it doesn't Close (the visitor center does but access is open).....in the late afternoon, early evening during the "golden hour" it is insanely beautiful and beyond haunting.

You only have one week and you're changing hotels every night but one. I would highly recommend reviewing your priorities and cutting your hotel moves in half, so you'll have 2-night stays.

You asked whether to skip Ring of Kerry. Rick Steves always recommends choosing either the Dingle peninsula or ROC, not both. ROC is more heavily visited by tour buses, so if it was my decision I'd stick with Dingle.

Even though your outgoing flight isn't until 9 PM, on Day 6 you'll want to allow time to be back in Dublin and turn in your car at LEAST 4 hours ahead. You never know if there could be a bad traffic jam or some other transportation disruption. (As an example, I can remember being stuck for an hour trying to turn in a rental car because computers were down.)
