Ireland in October

Hello, 4 of us traveling to Ireland. Arriving Dublin October 1st. Spending 2 nights in Dublin, taking train to Galway. My question: are we too late in the season to get to see much of the sites around Galway and then on to Dingle and other small towns? In the Rick Steves book it mentions some things closing down in October.
Would we be better off headed from Dublin to say maybe Belfast and other larger cities after that? Maybe train to Galway?
Appreciate any experienced advise?

What siort of 'sites' are you wanting to see? You may need to check each of them out on the web to find out when they close for the season.

I like Ireland in October! Have not had a problem with things being closed. But I suppose it depends on what you want to do. This past October we spent most of our time in Galway. Everything was open and lots to do (and also a night in Dublin also lots to do.)
