Hi
I am travelling to Ireland in July. I arrive in Dublin 8:30 am. I have 7 days. The last two will be in Dublin. Any recommendations on the first 5 days?
Hi!
I was just in Ireland in March and would highly recommend going to Dingle. It’s a 4 hr drive from Dublin but doable after landing, getting into the main town in the early afternoon. We only had two nights there but could’ve easily spent three or four there. We did E-Bikes on the Slea Head Loop on our full day there which was magical through the place recommend in Ricks book, John was great! If you’re interested in the Cliffs of Moher, it’s only a 2.5 hr drive and the Aran Islands are spectacular, with the ferry being close to the cliffs out of Doolin. That could easily fill up 5 days and would be a great way to see the country. Lmk if you would like my itinerary or any other recommendations/help! Sounds like a great trip!
What sort of things do you want to see/do? Are you wanting to visit museums, ruined castles and abbeys, lived in castles, gardens. shopping, pubs. music, walking, general drivin g around and sight seeing.... What research have you done and what made you decide you want to come to Ireland?
Will you have a car?
Do you want to do a road trip stopping in different places each night, or base yourself in say a couple of places for 2/3nights?
Most first time visitors head to Dingle/Killarney area, wpossibly also including Galway. Stops on the way to/from Dublin could include Kilkenny, Rock of Cashel, Cobh/Kinsale or The early Christian site of Clonmacnoise if coming back from Galway. .
With only five days, I'd skip Dingle. I was just there last week for the third tine, and love the town, the area, and the music.
Driving to Dingle after arriving on a long-haul flight is a mistake. I've made similar mistakes (Dublin to Clonakilty after 16 hour flight) and survived, but July will be much more traffic, etc. I now limit myself to something like Belfast on day zero.
As Wasleys commented, what do you like/dislike?
