Ireland Honeymoon December 7-14

Hello! We are going to Ireland for our honeymoon in a few weeks! We have everything planned out through out travel agent but want to make sure we are not missing any local fun places to go! We have rented a car and we are spending 2 nights in Gallway, 2 in Killarney and 3 in Dublin. Would love tips on local places to go, my husband is a dairy farmer and we will be touring a farm in Killarney. Also would love any tips, this is our first time to Europe.

Just wanted to give you my congrats on your marriage and wish you the best!

Since you have transportation, consider taking a Hawk Walk at Ashford Castle in Cong while you are in Galway. This was the highlight of a two week trip for my sister and I enjoyed seeing her delight in the event. You will find the info at the Ireland School of Falconry website. http://www.falconry.ie

Keep in mind it gets dark early in Ireland in December. Also, try to carve out some time to go to Kilkenny!!
Have fun!!!

South of Galway, across the big Galway Bay, you may be planning on driving to see the awesome, 800-foot-tall Cliffs of Moher. Just northeast of them is the delightful town of Lisdoonvarna, well worth a visit and maybe a stop for lunch. There’s a fabulous smokehouse there, started by a Norwegian woman who moved there. The smoked salmon is a real treat. And you won’t need this, having just gotten married, but the town holds a matchmaking festival every year.

If you haven’t driven on The Left before, steering from The Right side of the car, just remember to not get too far to the right, where oncoming traffic will be. The passenger should also occasionally remind the driver not to get too far to the left, where the edge of the road, and occasionally fences or brick walls exist. Also, notify your credit card company that you’ll be in Ireland those dates, so they don’t question purchases away from home. Get Euros from ATM’s in Ireland, for the best exchange rate, and to have cash on your trip. Congratulations!
