Hi. I'm flying into Shannon and was recommended to stop over in Galway and then bus in to Sligo. Any thoughts on this route? How long are the drives, or is there a train? And would love current recommendations on convenient hotels/B&Bs. I'm just now beginning the planning so any help is appreciated. Thx!

You can take a direct bus from Shannon to Galway, runs hourly, under two hours. The closest train station to the airport is at Ennis (bus #51, takes half an hour). See schedules for those and beyond at www.buseireann.ie. Sligo also is not served by train.
