Hello! My husband and I are taking our first trip to Ireland in April, bringing along our two boys (6 and 3). We’ll be renting a car once our stay in Dublin is over and heading south. With our boys being on the younger side, we’re looking for scenic views and outdoor activities mostly, instead of museums. Along with good food, good coffee and maybe some live music. My husband has a friend in Dublin who we’ll spend a few days with and then head out. Currently our itinerary (first draft) is as follows:
Dublin: Sunday-Tuesday (we land Sunday, would pick up car on Tuesday and head out)
Cobh: Tuesday - Wednesday (break up the drive + looks like a beautiful town
Dingle: Wednesday - Saturday (boat trip, Slea Head Drive, aquarium)
Doolin(?): Saturday- Sunday (Cliffs of Mohr, Bunratty Castle?)
Dublin: Sunday- fly out Monday afternoon
I’m pretty confident in the first half of the trip. Where I start to question is Dingle (we definitely want to spend time in Dingle). Is the current time too long? Should we leave a day earlier and head somewhere else?
Also, Doolin was added because of its proximity to the Cliffs of Mohr and breaks up the drive back to Dublin, it also looks beautiful. But if you have other suggests I’m open to hear them!
Any suggestions or guidance is appreciated!
