I will have a week free in Ireland. I have 4 days that I was thinking of 3 in Dublin and a day via train to Belfast. Then 3 days in Galway that are going to be taken up with other activities. Then 2 days free. Where to go without a car or should/can I rent a car in Galway. I would prefer to not drive but travel by train or bus. Any suggestions on where to go and things not to miss will be appreciated. I do not like touristy things.
Both Galway and Belfast are easy by train from Dublin, but remember, on the days you get on the train to travel you will probably not get to where you are going, and settled in you accommodation until almost lunch time (depending on what time you catch the train). If you have two free days I would recommend just adding them to Belfast and Galway. I spent four days in each city and found lots to do. There are lots of bus tours from each place. In Belfast you can spend a day seeing the city, and then another day doing a day trip up to the Giant's Causeway. In Galway it's easy to fill four days with day trips to Cliffs of Moher/Burren, Connemara/Kylemore Abbey, Aran Island. There are also many guided day trips you can take from Dublin so spending another day or two there would also be good. I did a few tours from this company: https://www.paddywagontours.com/
