Insect repellent needed?

Plan to walk one day, in the Wicklow way, from Glendalough to glenmalure lodge. Should I take insect repellent?

Our trip was this past mid-June. We didn’t need any insect repellent, however I did have an uninvited tick that I picked up along the Ring of Kerry. We are from South Carolina, and it was so nice walking without mosquitos! I agree with the other post, if you need it just buy it there. Have a wonderful trip.

I picked up a tick in Scotland, not walking through any brush at all, but on a tree-shaded path. At the time I removed it with tweezers, applied antiseptic cream, and checked with National Health nurse at the nearest pharmacy the next day. She said as long as the small reddened bite area cleared up there should be no worries.

However, I recently read they are starting to have some Lyme disease in the British Isles. As you may know, Lyme is nothing to mess with, so whether you choose to use repellent or not, after being out do check yourself for ticks just as you would do in North America.
