Inishmore / Inis Mor - overnight stay with limited mobility?

Hello! I am traveling with my mother (age 70+) and adult siblings to Ireland in October.

I had planned for two nights in Galway, including a day trip to Inishmore on day 2.

However after reading forums, I see that many travelers recommend spending the night on Inishmore, instead of doing a day trip. Many people seem to love the island for its hiking and biking opportunities.

My mother won't enjoy walking for more than 30 minutes at a time, and doesn't bike. So, I am wondering if it's worthwhile to spend the night on Inishmore, versus doing a day trip, if our group can't really bike or do long stretches of walking, and knowing that in October the island may be a bit quieter.

If it's helpful context: we are arriving by car in Galway on a Sunday after visiting Dublin and a village in County Westmeath. We currently have two nights booked in Galway - I had planned to do the Inishmore day trip on day 2 of our time in Galway. The following day, will drive on to Dingle where we will stay two nights and do a guided drive around the Dingle peninsula on day 2. Then we'll stay in Kilkenny one night before heading back to the Dublin area for one night.

Thanks all for any insights!

There really isn't much of anything else to do there on Inishmore. We visited with our Rick Steves tour. We took a shuttle van tour run by a local to get around and see the island; which is what I would suggest you do since you have someone with limited mobility. It's beautiful and vast and a good way to see a lot. It was interesting. A day trip would definitely be enough.
