We fly into Dublin but intend to spend most time in Northern Ireland. We have a couple of days before we need to be in Belfast & we plan to do the coastal road (Giant's Causeway, etc.) after Belfast. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for what to do for the first part of our trip when heading from Dublin to the north/northwest area for a couple of nights. We will have a car and have 2 kids aged 10 & 7. We will get our city "fix" in Dublin and Belfast so we're hoping for sweet villages, scenery, nature & places for the kids to burn off some steam. Thanks in advance!
Between Dublin and Belfast, we enjoyed our visit to Trim and New Grange. We really enjoyed the Trim Castle River Walk (sheep, fields, ruins, the river).
Thanks for the ideas! Much appreciated.
I don't know of any specific villages, but you may be happy to know that Donegal was recently selected as the coolest place on earth by National Geographic. This web page may give you some ideas.
