I would welcome some ideas.....

My sister and I are spending two weeks in Ireland in August. We have our itinerary down for all but the last two nights prior to heading to an airport hotel and flying out the next day. We will have visited Dublin and Belfast briefly, spent some time on the Causeway Coast, traveled to Galway and spent some time in the Aran Islands. We will have Galway as our "departure" point for the last two nights. We travel by public transport.

We had thought about two nights at Clifden, but are also open to ideas or suggestions that people may have. We are looking for an interesting spot with good public transport from Galway. It doesn't need to be on the coast. We do like walks and smaller towns vs. the big cities. My sister is happy reading a book all day, while I am more likely to want to be out exploring.

Any ideas for us?

I'm a bit confused but you are looking for places near Galway to explore using public transportation ?

For about $30 per person their are wonderful tours of Connemara available....you can visit Kylemore Abbey and the Ross Errilly Friary.....or the gorgeous Connemara National Park. Nice tours....all day on comfortable buses with plenty of time to sit in a gorgeous spot and read or go for a hike or wander the locations.. We drove the area and it was wonderful....especially the national park. I'm sure if you Google day tours from Galway you'll get some fun options. Good luck !

Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate you taking the time. I reread my question and I can see where it wasn't as clear as I should have made it. I don't want to stay in Galway, it is just the "starting point" for the last bit of our journey. I am really asking for another location that is just a few hours away on Public Transport to stay the last two nights before we head to the airport.

We will leave out of Dublin. I have already booked the final night before departure at an airport hotel there. I am looking for ideas for the 2 preceeding nights.
