Hurlng in March?

I will be in Dublin 23-24 March. How can I find out if I can see a hurling or Irish football match? Never saw either and would like to see one if possible.

Hi,
I can't help on Irish Football, but hurling can be seen outside any major tourist pub about closing time.

I shouldn't jest. One of my favorite memories of Ireland was being in a pub after hours drinking my pre-closing poured pints of Guinness and watching Irish Football on the telly.

Do you mean 'in the flesh' or on TV?

If on TV then this website has details of three pubs to try in Dublin.

The website for the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association), which runs Irish Football & Hurling is: https://www.gaa.ie/

Tickets for 2024 matches are not on sale yet. If there is nothing playing during your visit, you might enjoy a visit to the stadium & museum in Dublin. Rick mentions it in his book. We didn't have time but are sports fans and probably would have enjoyed it. We were in Galway during their "championship," or "Super Bowl" as we would call it for Irish Football so we got to watch it on TV at a bar. The game ended in a tie. When my husband asked well, what happens now, the bartender told him that we would have to come back in a week or two as they would play the match again. We thought he was joking, but no, he wasn't. It was as if our Super Bowl in the US ended in a tie, and they would then do it all again in a couple of weeks to determine the winner.

You can also buy a subscription to stream games here in the US too if you become a fan like my husband did.
