I have read that some felt they wished they had not spent their time for the island trip. There is an outside market in Galway on Saturday that sparks some interest among our crowd so was thinking it might be possible to do that before heading out to the island. Is this over planning? RS says allow 2 hours one way just for the travel time there. Unfortunately we have only one day in Galway and perhaps it is too ambitious of a plan and we might have a more interesting day spent in town. We welcome any ideas.

Have you considered going to Doolin and taking a ferry from there? We took the 10 am ferry to Inisheer (30 minute trip) and got the return ferry about 2:30. You can see a good part of the island in 4 hours and even have time to sit at one of the B&B's for some refreshment. Magical.
