I will be traveling by bus from Ennis to Killarney and then from Killarney to Shannon in mid July. I would like to use LEAP card to purchase tickets (for the discount) but won't be getting it until I arrive in Ireland at the end of June. Do bus prices get more expensive as you get closer to the day of travel? And do they sell out? Should I just go ahead and purchase now instead of waiting til I have LEAP card? Thanks!
By "Shannon," do you mean Shannon Airport? Because there may be an express bus from Killarney to the airport, which you might want to book ahead. Otherwise, I'd say the LEAP card (or take a look at the TFI app to see if you can avoid the 5euro purchase price for the card).
I am trying to buy Express tickets and get Payment error. Payment cannot be taken. Trip is 35 days out so should be able to get ticket. I do think advance gets you a seat.
On Expressway routes , LEAP is just a means of payment- it gives no discount to adults or seniors.
LEAP only gives a discount in the cities and on Transport for Ireland subsidised services- they include all Bus Eireann non expressway routes.
Prices are non dynamic on the bus, so the LEAP is not going to give you any real benefits if this is the totality of your bus journeys.
Thank you, isn31c. That is exactly what I wanted to know. Cheers, everyone! Enjoy Ireland.
