How early do we have to be at the Dublin airport for a flight to Canada?

We think our flight back to Canada this November will be around 10 am......

What time do you suggest we be at the airport for this flight?
We will be staying in Trimm the night before and we will have to turn in our rental car.

Any advice is welcomed.

We would advise that you check with your airline as this can vary depending on airline and destination, daa advise that passengers arrive no less than 90 minutes before departure.

Note: This is a quote from the Dublin airport website.

I'm old school. I arrive 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic flight. The one time you don't plan for the extra time is the one time you will need it. IMO.

So the plan is to leave Trimm at 6;15 am and drive to the Airport, drop off the car and try to make the 10 am flight. Hope there is not a lot of traffic at 6;15 am going from Trimm to Dunblin Airport

Will there be somebody there to check in the car, and you can have them tell you that they know the tank is full and no damage, and can they take you over to the terminal?

Sunrise won't be until 7:30 or 8, depending on when in the month so I'd take a strong light for your car check-in photos.

There will be less traffic on a weekend than on a midweek rush hour.

Good idea about the light. We will have the lights on our smart phones but I also carry a flashlight but it is small. I will video everything as my hubby does the photos.

I will be about the 18th of November at that point.

I wouldn't assume there won't be much traffic from Trim into Dublin. If it's Monday - Friday, there will be traffic. You will probably come into the city on the M3 I think? And then M50 to the airport. The M50 is VERY busy in the mornings. Would you consider staying closer to the airport on your last night? It would be less stressful, for me at least.
Also, I see you will be here October/November, so do check opening hours of all attractions you're hoping to visit. In your earlier post about lighthouses, I recommended a few different places in Wexford, definitely worth checking their winter opening hours. But you will certainly get to enjoy turf fires so it's not all bad 😊

I'm not sure about Canadian flights, but for my USA bound flight, after going through the first round of security, etc., I then had to go through U.S. customs in the Dublin airport, so even though at first I thought I had made it through (round one) with plenty of time to spare, by the time I got through round 2 (long lines there), I didn't have much time to spare.

All the best,

Raymond
