I spent three nights at Trinity Townhouse Hotel last month and it was a very nice experience. Pleasant room and really good breakfast and a five minute stroll to Trinity College. I chose it by reading reviews on booking.com which I like because only folks who have stayed there can put a review online. I also liked the fact that it was a block away from the stop on the bus I took from the airport,

Stayed one night at Buswells. Good hotel and location, excellent service.

Buswells was my least favorite hotel on our RS tour a few years ago. Good location, but poor room insulation so I found it noisy. And I had to switch rooms from the pre-tour nights to the tour-included nights, which is always a hassle. I do remember good breakfasts though.

For the last 7.5 years I have lived in hotels full time. Dozens upon dozens of hotels.

Buswell's will go down as one of the worst five hotel experiences I have ever had. So disgusting I will not even print it.

However, I can recommend The Davenport.

Not far away from the college, years ago we enjoyed our stay at Albany House. It’s by St. Stephen’s Green.

From most expensive to least expensive (and from closest to Trinity College to furthest and from best experience to least): The Merrion Hotel; The Wilder; Wynn's Hotel. Please note: while Wynn's was the least experience, it was not bad (although my husband is sad that they no longer give you the Irish Times for free - but then nothing is free at The Merrion, not even breakfast). Wynn's just isn't as luxurious as the other two, it's north of the River Liffey and it's on the tram line (more street noise).
