Hotels in Dublin

My husband and I will be in Dublin for a few days (April) at the end of our trip to Ireland. Any hotel suggestions? We are hoping to find something with personality, accessible to the airport by bus/train, and a spot that isn't too crazy all night but still close the city center. Hoping for something under 125 Euros. Thanks!

Dublin is a very expensive hotel city.
We found the Hilton Airport Inn to be the best deal around.
The bus lines taking you downtown are right out the front door, and a supermarket and good restaurants are within a block of the property.
We stayed one night after flying into Dublin and two nights prior to flying home. That's long enough to spend in Dublin--not our favorite big European city.

Agree with previous comment that Dublin hotel rates are fairly high. You mentioned you'd like to avoid "too crazy all night" so I had to share. We were unpleasantly surprised that our hotel (Harcourt Hotel in Harcourt Street) had an unbelievable amount of partying noise from the street between 1 AM and 5 AM two nights running. Granted, we were there on a Fri-Sat. The block looks like a quiet residential block in the daytime, but it turns out to have half a dozen nightclubs. This is quite some distance from the more notoriously noisy Temple Bar area, but still very convenient to central Dublin, an easy walk to St. Stephens Green, Grafton St., and Trinity College. It would have been a perfectly nice place to stay, and not too expensive by Dublin standards, except for the noise problem. They do provide ear plugs on the nightstand, though. LOL.

The Davenport was nice. Kennedy's pub where both Oscar Wilde and James Joyce drank is across the street as is Sweny's Drugs that was mentioned in Joyce's "Ulysses."

I also stayed at Buswell's and it was not very good. It's a RS recommended hotel but I don't recommend it.

On my first trip to Dublin, I stayed at the Jury's Inn Christchurch and it was okay.

You might try the Schoolhouse Hotel. It’s about a 15-20 minute walk to the city center, but it’s in a quieter area. The airport bus stops literally at the front door. Not sure of their rates, but take a look. Good luck and have fun!

We stayed at Albany House by St. Stephen’s Green. The green is where the bus from the airport dropped us off. Away from the hustle bustle, but only a short walk away.

I suggest staying at a "townhouse" in the Ballsbridge area, an upmarket leafy suburb, with great restaurants & easy access via DART. Can recommend Ariel House, Butlers Townhouse, Pembroke Towniouse & Pembroke Hall

We stayed at Ariel House in the Ballsbridge neighborhood. Quick access to town by DART, but you may want to stay in city center if you will only be there a few nights.

We stayed 3 nights at Buswells Hotel. It was quiet. The location is perfect! Everyone in our group enjoyed themselves.
We walked everywhere or hoped on the Luas. Very convenient to Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green, and Grafton Street. Le Pain Quotidien is right down the street and a lovely breakfast/lunch place. If you look at some of the google map photos and see a family of 4 or 5 waving. That's us. :-)
