My husband and I are traveling next June and would like to spend a couple of days doing genealogy research in Ardfert, Listowel and maybe Causeway. Any suggestions for where to stay in the area? Tralee looked like it might be a possibility by have read some not-very-flattering reviews about it.
I'd avoid dull Tralee and spend your nights in lively, lovely Dingle Town, where you'll find ample B&Bs, trad music sessions, plentiful restaurants and more. The drive to Ardfert is worth it, especially if you take the scenic drive over Connor Pass.
For B&Bs check out these resources:
Tralee wouldn't be my first choice either.
If this is to be a roots quest why not just stay in one of the villages that you mention and day trip from there? Sometimes casually striking up a chat with someone at a local pub can be more productive than other forms of research - can be a lot more pleasant too.
Thanks for the suggestions. FYI, our plan is Causeway in County Kerry, not Giant's Causeway.
