We are flying out of Shannon Airport (11:40 am flight). Where should be stay the night before? Should we stay in Limerick, Ennis or closer to the Airport. We will have to drop off a rental car.

We stayed in Ennis at the Old Ground when we landed at Shannon.

We have used Airport Manor several times and very happy. Very close to Shannon.

With a rental car, will you drive to the Shannon airport, to turn it in the morning you fly out? One trip when we didn’t have a rental car, we turned in our rented touring bicycles in Limerick the afternoon before we flew home, took the bus to Sixmilebridge, and stayed at a B&B there. The owner gave us a ride to the nearby Shannon Airport in the morning.

Several hotels and many B&B’s in Bunratty, six miles from the airport.
We have stayed at the Bunratty Castle hotel ( right across the street from the castle) and a B&B there.

We stayed 2 weeks ago at the Temple Gate in Ennis. About a 20 minute drive to the rental car return at the airport, sounds as if you are flying Delta to JFK as did we. Note you can use Global Entry at Shannon, Mobile passport does not work.
Baggage check in took a few minutes, going through security and US Customs was not a big deal.
NOTE. GPS shows a TOP OIL gas station as you enter the airport, this gas station DOES NOT EXIST as proven by the numerous rental cars parked and frantically looking at their phones (including me). Nearest gasoline is in Shannon Village (Texaco), a little harder to find than we planned. We left the Temple Gate at 7:55 and just made the 9:00 turn in for Hertz.
I think if you fill up the night before in Ennis you will be ok. Hertz only looked at the gauge, did not ask for a receipt.

The Park Inn by Radisson is right at Shannon Airport if you just want a convenient overnight to catch a morning flight.
