I am looking for hotel recommendations in Dublin. I will be there near the end of August and am looking for something central in the city.
In Feb '25 I had an Aer Lingus Travel trip. In Dublin, I stayed at "The Address Connolly" Amiens St. Dublin. Convenient--absolutely: Directly across from the Dublin Connolly Rail Station I walked from the hotel 2-3X to the Trinity College area, to numerous museums & Dublin sites, and basically around much of the city.
Walked & walked, but easy to get a taxi all over (did to Guinness, Jameson, Ely Wine Bar--all highly recommended). I employed "Free Now" app for taxis.
Train--I left The Address Connolly, trained to Belfast for a couple days at the Europa (4 or 5 Star), toured, walked & walked Belfast. Got private car to Bushmills, then train back to Dublin right across from the The Address Connolly. Saw my one & only Hurling match also.
We spent two weeks in Ireland last month. We stayed at the Conrad Dublin on the corner of St. Stephen's Green. I had free night certificates from Hilton so our three night stay was free. The location was perfect with easy walks to Trinity College and other sites. I highly recommend taking a free Guru Walks tour in Dublin. The meeting spot is just down the street from the Conrad. The Walk was a great introductory to Dublin. We had fabulous meals at Glas, Hugo's and Davey Brynes- all walking distance from the Conrad.
This past month we stayed at the Hyatt Centric. It is located in the Liberties neighborhood, right across from St Patrick's Cathedral. We stayed three nights, went away to Galway and Cork, then returned to the hotel for a final night before coming home. Great location, good food when we wanted to eat the hotel, and good trad music in the bar one of the nights.
In 1993, I stayed at a pleasant B&B called the Ariel House in the Donnybrook area of Dublin: https://www.arielhouse.ie/.
I suspect you've gotten few responses because this is a much-covered topic on the Forum. Try searching "Dublin hotel" or looking in the reviews section.
We will be staying at the Drury Court Hotel in Dublin this May, so obviously I don't have firsthand experience yet. However, Ruth on this forum recommended the hotel to me. It is centrally located.
We just stayed in the College Green Hotel and Shelburne hotel and both were central and lovely, especially the Shelburne. enjoy!
We stayed at the Chancery in August 2024 for the central location and air conditioning. We found it to be a very new and nice property near to Dublin Castle. https://www.thechanceryhotel.ie/rooms/
In no particular order-
Number 31
Albany House on Harcourt Street
Camden Court Hotel on Camden Street
Staunton’s on the Green
All are reasonably priced and centrally located. Dublin is small and very walkable.
We have stayed at Fitzwilliam and found the whole stay to be top notch. Extraordinary.
We had a very nice stay at The Grafton Hotel. It is very well located right in the heart of the city, and we were able to walk everywhere.
We found hotels in Dublin to be very expensive. If you want a more budget-friendly option, we ended up staying at the Staycity Dublin Castle. The rooms were small, but very cute, and there was a kitchenette. It was nothing special and had no historic charm or anything, but it was comfortable, the location was great--next to the castle garden, and the price was (cough) reasonable for Dublin.
I liked Buswell's Hotel, near St. Stephen's Green and Trinity College, right across the street from the National Archeological Museum. The Aircoach bus to and from DUB stops there. Nice bar, I don't remember whether there was a restaurant, but plenty are nearby.
