hotel prior to trip to Ireland beginning September 4.

I have not had much luck getting a hotel in Dublin for the night of September 3 at least near the one we have for September 4 on the beginning of our tour. Does anyone have any recommendations.

What/where is the one you have on tour?

We went on the RS “Heart of Ireland” tour in May, and it ended in Dublin at the Iveagh Garden Hotel, near the south side of St. Stephens Green. We were staying a few extra days, and that hotel had no availability, so we went to the Hilton Garden Inn. It’s right on the River Liffey. The Jeannie Johnston famine ship is right in front of it, and the EPIC Emigration Museum is literally next door. So it’s a good location if you’re interested in either of those sites. The hotel was very nice, if somewhat generic.

My understanding is that the RS tour generally uses hotels near St. Stephen's Green (e.g., the Iveagh Garden mentioned in another comment). Lots of Forum folks stay at Buswell's, which RS used to use. Buswell's has a room available that night, according to Trivago. I feel like I've seen a recommendation for Camden Court, which also has a room showing on Trivago. Also, the Fitzwilliam. Without knowing which hotel you'll actually be in or what your budget is or who "we" are, I can't help any more than that.

If you are starting at the Iveagh Garden hotel, I stayed next door at the Harrington Hall hotel this past June for two nights.
It was fine, very clean and quiet with friendly staff, but I had room 37 which had two skylights I couldn’t close and it rained …inside my room…through them in the night!
They use the Iveagh Garden for breakfast, but it’s just next door and is very tasty.
I see it has availability for your night.
I see many hotels available on booking.com.

Helen,
My husband and I are also on this tour and we have booked the host hotel Iveagh for the night before the tour.

We stayed at Buswells Hotel. Great location for walking everywhere as we did not have a car. The room was very nice and accommodated us for an early breakfast before our flight home. Would stay there again.

Another very nice hotel in the immediate area is the Albany House. We have stayed there quite often. It does not have a lift so luggage must be carried up a flight of stairs for most rooms. They currently show vacancies on 9/3 $225 for two people.
