Need a moderate hotel near Dublin Airport to spend last night before flight to US

I stayed at the Carlton Hotel Dublin Airport. Nice hotel and had a free shuttle bus to the airport. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Forum participants have recommended the Radisson Blu a number of times in the past.

We booked a night in late May 2024 as we were going to be in Northern Ireland the day before flying. The room was rather expensive but I think it's a good location. We actually walked from Dublin Airport to the hotel as it was a beautiful day. We took the hotel's shuttle to the airport before boarding.

The restaurant was fine - you can find several nice dinners and desserts there.

We weren't impressed with the room's facilities. The toilet simply would not flush. I refuse to pay for the most expensive hotel and not have an operable toilet. So we called the front desk who sent up a maintenance man. He flushed a few times and got one good flush. He said all the plumbing is old in that portion of the hotel and you have to push the handle exactly how he did it. I wasn't really happy with that. Later my partner and I both were unable after multiple attempts to get it to work. So we called the desk again and he moved us to the gigantic reserved room on the top floor. There were some nice things about the room but I didn't care for the loud rattling that happened randomly from near the window. It was really disturbing when trying to sleep.

It's location is wonderful but it wasn't at all what I would expect for the cost. I'd choose something else should I return.

I did OK with the Radisson Blu at the airport, but the post above gives one pause. Another hotel on the airport grounds is the Maldron, where I've also stayed and liked. There are numerous hotels in the nearby community of Swords, with airport shuttles, a longer ride but probably better rates for what you get.

Our experience with the condition of our room at the Radisson Blu last September was not good (the only place for toilet paper was sitting on the back of the toilet, which wasn’t really sure if it wanted to flush). The hotel is in dire need of a remodel if our room was any indication. We kind of “rolled with it” as we were tired and one of us was ill. We stayed at the Premier Inn last month and while it is a bit farther from the airport, they have an easy, dependable shuttle, dinner was great, and our room clean, up to date, and the toilet flushed!

Curious if anyone has good/bad experiences with the Hilton at the Dublin Airport?
Thanks for sharing-

We also stayed at the Premier Inn near Dublin Airport and were very happy with it. The airport shuttle had a small cost (3 euro per person I think), and it ran from early morning until around 11pm or so. We were at the airport in minutes.

We stayed at the airport Hilton, in April. I would definitely stay there again. The food, drinks and service were great!!! There's a free airport shuttle.

Not sure if already went on your trip …. - but Clayton hotel Dublin Airport was highly recommended
to us by friends who only stay there night before tour meet ups and night after tour to catch flight. Free shuttle to and from airport - convenience store across the street place to eat on premises. Thats where we will stay. ;)

We also stayed at the Premier Inn at the airport. Not fancy, but clean and fairly modern. We had hoped to walk to an old pub or restaurant for dinner, but all we saw were car dealerships and a few shopping centers with fast food. So we ate at the rather plain restaurant at the Premier, which was very acceptable. Shuttle bus to the terminal worked well. Had a local power outage in the morning, so can't comment on the breakfast buffet.

@travelerguy, we walked not too far away from the Premier Inn when we spent the night there and found a decent place to eat.

We've stayed at the Hilton airport a few times (most recently 2 weeks ago.) It's very good and would definitely stay there again.

Just to let you know, I did stay at the Carlton. It was wonderful huge comfortable room. A great rooftop restaurant overlooking the runways to watch the planes land with surprisingly good food. Also a shuttle to the airport. Would definitely stay there again.
