Hello,
First time poster here but I've been enjoying reading through many of the threads. My family and I are vacationing to Ireland next month and I actually plan to post our itinerary for recommendations and thoughts at some point. Right now though I have a specific question:
The first part of our trip we're staying up in Whitegate County Clare right near the banks of Lough Derg and I've read some about Holy Island which is out in the lake and has an old monastery. There is evidently a tour guide that runs a boat trip out to the island from Mountshannon. Despite its proximity to our home base there aren't a lot of opportunities time wise to get it in. So, has anyone else here been out there to take the tour or in any capacity? Is it worth some finagling of the schedule?
One thought I had is that it's probably a sight not as many people get the chance to see and for that reason alone it might be worth the effort.
