My gang will be doing a five-day self-guided walking tour of the Dingle Peninsula in mid-August. Historic weather range shows highs of 63 to 67 F. I also understand there isn't a lot of tree cover around the DP. Due to health issues I don't do well in high heat so thought I'd ask folks who've been there recently in the summer: were daily temps about in that historic range or did you experience unusually higher temps? Thanks!
I was in Ireland, including 2 nights in Dingle, in May 2025. Ireland was a lot warmer than I was expecting and I lucked out with no rain.
The temps in Europe always feel warmer to me. For example, it might be 68, but that feels like 80 to me.
I’m not a fan of the heat either. I would suggest a sun hat and some sunscreen.
Dingle was one of my favorites. Have a great trip!
It really is impossible to say what the temperatures in Dingle will be in August. The historic range is likely but just last week it was in the mid/high 70s which is unseasonably warm for May.
There has also been a lot of talk about the possible impact of the El Niño weather pattern causing higher than normal temperatures later in the year.
Unhelpful I know but until about a week before everything is just guess work.
Thanks, both! I appreciate the reminder about El Nino, will do some more reading about that. We just returned from Wales where we had three near-90 F days in a row, very unusual for Wales in May. That got me thinking about walking five days in August in Ireland. Appreciate your input!
