Hertz Personal Insurance

Hello,

Booking for Ireland in summer for car rental. Hertz says that my rental rate includes CDW, and I am going to add the super excess waiver, but it is also offering personal insurance - what is that?

Thanks

Is his what you are looking at? I took it from the Hertz site. Looks like they are selling you life insurance for being killed in an auto accident. I would call it a revenue generator for them, not something you need.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

This option covers the authorised drivers, the passengers and the personal effects.
Coverage
Maximum
Accidental death of the authorised driver
€ 19,500.00
Accidental death of each passenger
€ 3,900.00
Maximum benefit any one claim
€ 55,000.00

Just a quick note if you are renting from hertz, do you have a chase credit card? If so, you do not need to purchase the CDW, in fact you must waive it if you put the rental on the card. The insurance via credit card then covers the rental and CDW. I've gotten copies to the policy to bring with me to Ireland as you must have proof you are covered when you rent.

Just a little info!

Do check Kerri's info before you come over. I have USAA insurance and they cover me everywhere except ireland and montenegro.... so confirm the Chase Card covers you HERE!

Many cards will exclude coverage in Northern Ireland, but cover you in Ireland. It goes backfire years of Northern Ireland terrorists.
Need to check the agreement of terms and conditions implementable credit card. Also need to check your auto insurance agent to see if they cover rental cars.

Thanks, all! This is helpful. We won't pick up personal, but will get the CDW. We have Citibank and they are specific that they will not cover Ireland. Also, what I've read about the paperwork required (even if we did have coverage on our credit card,) is motivating me to just get the CDW, and the 50% accident rate. I'm trying not to stress about the driving!

Thanks,
Kim
