Help with Dublin Hotels and Galway

Hello

I was wondering if any of you had good experiences in Dublin with a hotel near st. stephan and city center. We had stayed a Burlington road Clayton Hotel. But it is a little expensive.

I would like a hotel that would cost about 200euros. I will be there in May.

Also, I have never been to Galway.

What not to miss when going from Dublin to Galway, and in Galway.

Thank you
MAria

I think hotels everywhere are really expensive now. More in the 275-300 euros range. We've stayed at Buswell's right near St Stephan's Square, and it's lovely. I think Albany House also looks very nice. We stayed at Eyre Square Hotel in Galway.

What we regret is after touring Ireland, we returned for a one night stay in Dublin, before our departure back to the US. Looking for a less expensive option, we chose the Holiday Inn Express/City Centre. The Upper O'Connell area is functional big city, not charming. The Holiday Inn itself was perfectly acceptable with a modern updated room, until we found out at 10pm that there was a disco underneath the hotel, not affiliated with the hotel. Never had a worse hotel experience. And the non disclosure really was unacceptable.

Agree that hotels are a lot more expensive. In 2015, we stayed at Stauntons On The Green for about $100 per night and really liked it. Now it’s a shocking $400-$500+ per night for 2 random dates in May. I was curious, so checked what events were happening in May. There are several big-name concerts going on (Eric Clapton, Dionne Warwick, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart) so maybe that’s why? If you haven’t already, maybe try booking.com to search for what’s available for your price. Good luck!

You're not likely to find anything in your price range near St Stephen's Green at that time of year, but prices will start to go down the further away from the city center you go. During our most recent trip we stayed at the Leeson Lodge - nice location, reasonable rates, and about an 800 meter level walk to the Green. I see that they're quoting rooms for around 160 Euros per night for stays in May - not a bad price for Dublin.
There's an Airlink Express bus stop right in front of the hotel as well as a city bus stop if you'd rather not walk into town.
Edited to add: many here recommend Buswell's hotel near the Green. Very central location, and I believe it hosts Rick's tours - might be worth a look.
