Help! 2 day itinerary along west coast with kids

Hi! We will be traveling 2 days on west coast with kids ages 7&9…. Plan is to leave Ashford Castle, stop in Galway for lunch, down to bunratty castle folk park for the day, stay over in ennis…wake up the next day and drive from ennis up to the cliffs of Moher, eat in doolin, do a sheep dog demo and drive back to ennis. Leaving out of shannon the next day.

I am reconsidering this to move south instead towards dingle.

Day 1 - leave Ashford, do sheep dog demo, stop to see cliffs, eat in Doolin, down to Bunratty….stay over in Ennis.

Day.2 - Leave Ennis to drive to Dingle the next morning Do boat ride in Dingle where the kids would see puffins and dolphins etc and stop in Killarney on the way back to Ennis to do a jaunting ride and eat. End the night in

We are flying out of Shannon the next day in the afternoon.

Is this doable? Any suggestions on either?
Thanks!

Where is the sheep dog demonstration? What time does it start and how long does it take? That information is needed to help sort out a sensible itinerary...

Bunratty Castle Folk Park - you need to allow at least a couple of hours for this , and possibly more if the kids are enjoying themselves.

Your first suggestion seems a lot more doable than the move south where you do seem to be trying to cram a lot into a short time. Day 1 you are looking at at least four hours drive without any stops. Day 2 is more like 6+ hours without any stops... .How long does the boat trip take in Dingle?

Don't underestimate how long it will take to drive between places. Driving in Ireland is slow and will take a lot longer than you might expect.

Thanks! The sheep dog is a few hours and is near the cliffs. It can be anytime but will prob do in the afternoon on the first day.

I feel like you are right about sticking to the first plan. I really just wanted to get to Dingle and trying to make it work. Do you know if there are any boats/areas closer to the cliff that you can see dolphins, puffins etc. that maybe i could squeeze in somehow? Because we are starting north in Ashford and heading south, it seems like getting southwest may just not work with the time we have. I need more time! Lol thank you!!

What time of year? Weather is going to be a factor in the boat ride option. Puffins may or may not be in great supply (the peak nesting season is May-June I believe) and it is really hard to predict if you'd actually see dolphins (the resident Dingle dolphin, Fungie, was declared deceased). I would stay with your first option, less driving and better things for kids that have a higher probability of being enjoyable.
