Help Planning: Cashel to Portstewart

Cheers!

We are travelling to Ireland in May & will be in Cashel on May 12th, driving North to be in Portstewart the latter afternoon of May 15th. Our time in Portstewart will be devoted to the Antrim Coast, so we have the 12th, 13th & 14th to explore areas along the way from Cashel to Portstewart. We are avoiding Dublin & Belfast this time around.

We are interested in moderate hiking trails in areas of outstanding natural beauty, avoiding crowds where/if possible. We'd like to stay in a small, quaint village that has a bit of traditional nightlife. If at all possible, we'd like to stay in one recommended place for the entire 3 nights & explore from there. We're Interested in Wicklow (Glendalough) & Mourne Mountains & whatever you may have to suggest.

Thank you in advance for your generous assistance!

I would have a look at Newcastle- it's the gateway to the Mourne Mountains and right on the coast. It's bigger than a village, tho, more like a small town. You can do some walking from there- like climbing Slieve Donard or Slieve Binian. The Silent Valley is also nearby.

It would help to know where you will be before Cashel. Newcastle seems a sensible suggestion, but it's still a good long way from Portstewart.

The Mountains of Mourne have some superb walking and would make a good stop.

On the way to Poretrush, think about detouring for the Gobbins Walk. Then follow the cvoast whiuch takes you up through the Antrim Glens. Each is very different and there is some excellent walking in Glenariff Glen, especially the waterfalls trail.

You might want to take two days for this - stop in either Cushendall or Cushendun for the night - both are attractive villages.
