Help planning a doable itinerary

I’ve always wanted to visit Ireland, 4 of us, ( 2 couples)are planning a trip to Ireland in September for 11 days . Definitely want to see Dublin and Cork. . I am completely out of my element trying to figure out an economical and pleasurable trip. Hotel vs Air B&B ? Rent a car or use a bus / train? How long to stay in Dublin? Must see(s) and must do(s) to make the most of the trip?

Definitely want to fit in Trinity College, beautiful castles. The cliffs of Moher, great food, and welcoming pubs.

Any recommendations for a doable itinerary that won’t break the bank or too exhausting with long travel times between attractions..

I suggest that you start with a coupe of guidebooks from Rick Steves, Fodor's, Lonely Planet etc.

Also take a look at this thread: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/ireland/ireland-tour-agencies-solo-travel. It discusses several travel agencies which can assist with a possible trip.

One thing to consider is do you want a tour or do you want to plan it all on your own. Planning it on your own is very doable, but takes some time to put it together. A travel agency not so much.
