We are a family of 5 visiting Ireland in August. We will be in Dublin for 4 days, and want to take a day tour to Kilkenny. A private tour would be ideal so we can customize it, but that is probably a lot more expensive than a group day tour. Does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced private tour guide, or a suggestion for a group day tour? Do any of the tours combine Kilkenny and Rock of Cashel? Thanks for the information!
Greetings from Ireland,
Most day trips are around the same quality and price.
You could of course get a driver-guide. Check the ITGA - Irish tour guide assoc website for some contacts.
ALternatively, you could rent an 8 seater car, hire a guide to accompany you and your family and you do the driving. The guide would unlikely be insured to drive you all y'see.
Best wishes to you and your clan

I have been researching this for myself and while I haven't used the tours I am posting I have looked at their web sites. Most were taken from other posts on this site. These are the ones I have so far:
Blacklane.com.-I believe this is more of a limousine service.
www.collinsdaytours.com-They have a tour which includes Glendalough and also Kilkenny. We did not want to include Kilkenny on the same tour/day.

I'm sure there are more tour companies. I hope others who have gone on these day tours will post their experiences as I know I am interested also!
