For those of you who just did this tour or going to do it the next few weeks. We plan to do next year in September and plan to add on. In Dingle, what time does the tour get back from Falconry, and about what time does the sun set that night. We want to rent bikes for 3-4 hours after falconry if time/daylight permits. In Dublin, what is/are the names of the hotel(s) RS usually books as we might stay one extra day to do a day excursion from Dublin and fly out the following day. Thanks in advance.
As soon as you book your tour and get confirmation, it will include the the first and last hotels you are staying at so you can request an extra night's stay. But the tour hotels vary, so nobody on the forum can tell you which hotel for your specific tour. Enjoy the tour!
To add to what KD already posted, you might check with the tour office to get an approximate time on the included Falconry Experience but things do vary on the tours with weather, traffic delays, closures, etc. And as for what time the sun sets on a specific day in September 2026, I’m sure that google can help you.
Sunset times for September 2025 are shown here.
My wife and I were on the Heart of Ireland 7 days, in Spring 24. We loved it, especially Dingle. In Dingle, our group was in two private b&b's, next door to each other, and next door to a bird facility. The falconry was held right next to one of the B&B's. It was great. The last photo of me holding a bird was taken at 2:47 pm. There was lots of dayllight after that.
In Dublin, we stayed at the Iveagh Gardens Hotel. Very nice, pretty deluxe place. Might be a bit expensive, though.
Enjoy your tour, have a Murphy's for me.
We just did this tour in July, and as said, the falconry experience is right there where the two hotels were. You can always skip this event if you want to do something else during that time. You'll get the names of the first and last hotels when you sign up for the tour. Our hotel in Dublin was also the Iveagh Garden Hotel (very nice) but as said, they dont always have the same hotels.
Just finished this tour on Oct 4. Agree with what Stan and travelerguy said. In our case, the falconry in Dingle was done about 3pm, and it was raining (it does that sometimes in Ireland). Sunset was expected 730pm (late September) but it was dark earlier due to the rain. So keep that possibility in mind!
We also had Iveagh Gardens Hotel for the last hotel on the tour. They were easy to add on additional days. Keep in mind that Dublin in general is expensive for hotels, so it might not be easy to find a cheaper hotel.
Enjoy the trip, we sure did.
Thank you everyone for your replies and input :)
Perhaps a bit too late to be of help to you at this point in time...
We just completed our Heart of Ireland 7 day tour with RS. I'm well traveled, being both a Pan Am dependent and living in Madrid for 4 years with the military. Therefore I usually set all my travel arrangements myself.
We've been terribly busy this year and decided to take the plunge and let RS take care of everything. My first ever group, only 22 people. I have to say, the other 20 (small group) really helped make the journey much more enjoyable.
RS nailed it.
