Health insurance for American while overseas question (aside from Covid)

Hello fellow travelers ! I know there are numerous comments and conversations in these threads regarding special insurance coverage for Covid issues - for example, in case you test positive in Dublin or some other European city and are "stuck" there for a week or whatever before being cleared to fly home. My question is not about that, but instead is about basic health insurance coverage. The last time we went to Europe (London & Paris), was several years ago, and the wife and I had an Aetna plan that covered us in those places. As we plan our Ireland trip for this fall, it so happens that we now have a different Aetna plan that (subject to confirmation), does NOT cover us in those places. So, special Covid coverage aside, if anyone has found themselves in a similar boat, how have you approached it? I figure there must be numerous insurance plans that don't cover people while on vacation in Europe. Thanks for sharing any thoughts.

Most quality insurance plans do cover urgent and emergency care worldwide. You are wise to check to see if yours is one of them.

Many people suggest geoblue as an option here.

I would also check to see if your credit cards include medical coverage as well. The biggest cost with a bad accident or severe illness overseas can be medical evacuation. Many here have Medjet for that.
