Has anyone stayed at Carrageen Castle in Cahir?

We are thinking of staying there in Sept. along with visiting the Rock of Cashel which is supposed to be about 12 miles away. Any experiences with Carrageen Castle? It's an old prison, looks like a real castle in the picture online.

My husband and I stayed at the castle a few months ago. It was lovely. The owners (mother and son) are delightful and so accommodating. Be sure to book a room with an en suite as some of the bedrooms have shared bathrooms. The breakfast is made to order and although it says continental breakfast they were willing to make whatever we wanted. Although it looks like a castle it's not really but I would highly recommend.

While it has been almost 10 years since our visit to Cahir, our stay at the Carrageen Castle was terrific. I can also remember being a bit apprehensive about the booking with a few negative comments about a fussy owner, etc. And, I'm happy to tell you that our stay (a family of four with two rooms) was lot's of fun. Beautiful setting, quirky building with comfortable rooms, several helpful area site seeing tips and a hearty breakfast (and, our teenage boys eat a lot!). Safe travels.
