Great Discovery in Trim

We found a brand new bed & breakfast in Trim that was the best place we stayed in Ireland! The Old Rectory was built in 1751 and previously owned by the Church of Ireland. The rooms are huge and the furniture is regal - it feels like you are in a castle. Sandy, the owner, is very friendly and knows all about the history of the house. With only two guest rooms (en suite) it feels very personal. There is a bright sunny common room/breakfast room where you make your own breakfast with fresh eggs from chickens in the backyard! Each room sleeps 4 and there is parking. This is definitely a Rick Steve’s kind of place!

It is a few blocks from Trim Castle and this is where most of the movie Braveheart was filmed. She showed us excerpts from the filming - many from the town were extras. There is a local pub nearby with pictures of Mel Gibson doing the filming and other memorabilia.
