We will be driving around Ireland in May & plan to spend two or three days in specific towns to use as a central base for touring the area. Interested in suggestions for some town to spend time in.
also, recommendations for lodging in these towns & also lodging in Dingle, Kerry, Galway, Kenmare, Sligo among others.
I've stayed at the Lansdowne Arms Hotel in Kenmare, and at the Dingle Bay Hotel in Dingle. They were both very nice.
You didn’t tell us what kind of lodging you like....luxury (castle), moderate or budget. Also, how much time do u have? Pax hotel is lovely in Dingle. Other wonderful towns, Kinsale, Westport, Clifden. Soo so many!
Also....are you looking for a reasonably large town w lots of shops, pubs, attractions and tourists....like Galway or Killarney or a small more intimate village ?
In Kenmare we enjoyed http://ashfieldkenmare.com/ as our B&B and in Dingle we stayed at http://brownesdingle.com/. Both of the B&B's are walkable to town (1/2 mile-miles) but after a long day of hiking and touring we drove to the main "downtown" area in both Kenmare and Dingle. We were there in early May and had absolutely no problem finding parking in the general area of the pubs and restaurants. I would look forward to staying at both spots if we return to Ireland. The folks at both B&B's were wonderful hosts.
