Golf Recommendations... during month of April

My husband and son in law want to play a little golf while in Ireland. I am looking for a couple of recommendations. They do not have to be the most famous as those he is content to see. The areas will be in are as follows: 4 days in Coleraine (Portstewart area). 4 Days in Salthill (Galwayarea) and 4 days in Dublin. We will have cars for the first two stops, but in Dublin we will rely on public transportation if possible or car hire. Thank you for your input.

Sorry you haven't received any replies. There are great golf courses all over Ireland. I think you will do best to ask at your lodging for recommendations and maybe have them call for a tee time.

I'm going in May. My new girlfriend is an avid golfer so that was my plan. I won't pack clubs. I prefer to travel light and it shouldn't be hard to rent clubs when we play.

Not sure about Portstewart area as I haven't played in that region. Royal portrush is consistently listed in top 100 worldwide but would need early booking I'd imagine. Galway Bay Golf Club is a great test. Around Dublin/Wicklow/Kildare (an hours drive) there are numerous courses to enjoy. Would highly recommend Druids Glen, Portmarnock, Killeen, Palmerstown House, The K Club, and Carton House - all championship courses. Check out early tee times and call courses directly for good rates. You can often half the cost of green fees by taking an early slot and you get a good run at the course with few delays. Ideally you will require own transport especially with equipment. Some very good local courses too for less than €40 - check out open competion days.
Bring the wet gear - April can be very mixed.

Thank you all for your input. We did book golf in Northern Ireland. Checked into many courses. Decided not to Play Royal Portrush as it is the home of the Open this year and would have to plan off fairway mats and some mats in the rough. So to play over 200 Euro thought we could find better. We decided to play CastleRock Mussenden course. I booked it via Golfnow and the rate is 77 pounds and then we book North West Golf Club on Golfnow and that is 19 Euros. So both are links courses with good reviews and can provide rental clubs. Have not decided on golf in Dublin yet, but will find at least one course. As for Galway will just be sightweeing. Three weeks from today and looking forward to it.
