heading to Adare Castle in June. I know they have a golf course, but we are looking for other good, inexpensive local courses, and we also want to rent clubs as inexpensively as possible.

not sure if you will be in Dublin at all, but I played at Howth golf club about 30 minutes from city centre. It's built on a big hill (mountain?) that overlooks Dublin Bay--spectacular views. It was like $20 Euros to play. I had a friend in Dublin loan me some clubs so I'm not sure how much they are to rent, but the course was probably one of the coolest tracks I've ever played and I live close to about 60 courses in Central FL.

Well, Ballybunion is just about 40 miles away and is the big name links course on the ocean side. The Old Couse is big bucks (185 euro), but the new Cashen Course next door is a lot more reasonable. Limerick has several golf clubs, some open to the public in the 50 euro range.
