Anyone taken the goat farm/cheese factory tour? We're planning to take the ferry from Doolin and spend most of the day on Inishmore then ferry back to Doolin for the evening. Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
If you’re referring to “Faherty’s Aran Food Tour,” in 2016, I selected Gabriel Faherty’s small tour bus when I arrived by ferry on Inish Mor. There were several tour operators available, all offering similar tours of the island and similar prices.
However, Faherty had been developing his goat farm and cheese business for several years and had just won a major competition for his cheese, something that several islanders congratulated him for at several stops.
He was an excellent and personable guide, and he asked if we would be interested in seeing his farm, so of course, we said “yes,” and it was interesting.
Based on the web site, it looks as if he’s expanded on the typical Inish Mor tour to offer more of the local food culture. I can’t comment on the expanded offerings, but he offered a great tour back in 2016.
All the best,
Raymond
Yes, that was the tour we are looking at. The website says 10 people are needed for a tour but there may be others who are willing to join up with smaller groups. Thanks for the information; much appreciated!
