Giants's Causeway and Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge

If you could add a couple extra days to a trip, would you use them to visit Giant's Causeway and Carrick-A-Rede Rope Bridge? Is it worth the extra time or is it more along the lines of "that was cool" and move on.

Having done both sites, I definitely think they are worth a couple of extra days. This part of the coast is well worth visiting. The Giants Causeway is a unique natural wonder, Carrick-A-Rede bridge is a nice scenic side trip. The bridge isn't particularly long. The walk to the bridge along the cliff tops is worth the effort.

I went to both in one day as part of a 2-week tour. Giant's Causeway somehow didn't impress as much "in person" as the photos, and the rope bridge was short, with waiting lines to walk on it - several in our group had the same reaction "the Capilano bridge in Vancouver is a lot better." On the other hand, it was a beautiful sunny August day and the hikes to the sights were hugely enjoyable.

When I went I also visited the Bushmills Distillery. I think both are worth a visit. The rope bridge might be closer to a "that was cool," like you suggest. The area in general is very pleasant and a good spot to spend a night or two.

I may be biased because I live in the Vancouver area and have been to both the Lynn Canyon and Capilano suspension bridges several times. The Carrick-a-Rede bridge doesn't come close. It is a nice area for a walk, but if you are short on time I would skip it. I quite enjoyed the giant's causeway, though, and found the rock formations quite photogenic.

I would totally recommend going to Giant's Causeway and the Carrick-a-rede rope bridge. As others have mentioned, the bridge is short, but the scenery in that area is absolutely beautiful. If you are in the area there is a castle near there I would recommend as well. The name is escaping me at the moment but I'm sure someone else on here can supply the name. It is a castle that was built on the coast and half of it fell into the water one evening.

I had the opposite reaction to giants causeway of Chani.......I have been to it twice and have just been amazed both times. maybe because as a child is was the one who constantly picked up interesting rocks......Giants causeway is just an incredible one of a kind formation. there is a little shuttle bus that goes from the parking lot out to it if you are short on time. add bushmills if you like that sort of thing....and they do have a nice gift shop
