Giant's Causeway to Dublin--What to see along the way?

On our upcoming summer trip to Ireland/Northern Ireland, we will be traveling by car from the Giant's Causeway to the Dublin area on one of our travel days. What should we stop and see along the way? We plan to travel that day, and then get up the next morning and go to Newgrange as soon as it opens, so that is already on the list. What else should we see between GC and Dublin? We do not plan to go to Belfast, and we do not want to go too far out of the way. Thanks!

Armagh would work as a stop between the two, depending on your route of course. It's the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland and has two cathedrals, a Roman Catholic and a Church of Ireland, if that's of interest. Nearby is the ancient monument of Navan Fort. While not as well known and fantastic as Newgrange, it's very interesting with the hill fort and a nice visitor center with informative displays.

Carrick a Rede rope bridge was a nice stop. It isn’t that far the causeway. Trim castle was also a nice stop. It’s Ireland’s largest Anglo-Norman castle. A few scenes from the movie Braveheart were filmed there.
