Giant Causway area

Will be in Ireland in April. Looking for suggestions on where to spend 3 nights along the Giant Causway. Plan to play golf, hike, visit Bushmills, Dunluce Castle and Carrik A rede bridge. Along with whatever else we can manage. So just wondering about a home base. We will have car.

I would suggest considering Portrush for your stay. A lovely smaller town. Plenty of hotels, the Adelphi is nice.

We stayed at the Bayview Hotel in Port Ballintrae. It has a fabulous view and close proximity to all of the locations you mention. I like it better than Port Rush because it is not as "touristy." Lovely walks and drives. About 10 minute drive to Port Rush. 1 mile from Bushmills. Just a few miles from Dunluce Castle and the Giant's Causeway. Golf course within 1/2 mile.

We found the area great for walks and exploring the surrounding area.

We loved the Bushmill Inn. The rooms are beautiful and nice common areas with log/peat fires.

As a couple others stated, we stayed in Portrush after visiting the places you mentioned. They can all be seen in a day. Prior to visiting them, we stayed at the Old Inn in Crawfordsburn. Very quaint and old inn, but it might be further away from those sights than you’d like. On the way over to the Antrim coast we stopped at Carrickfergus castle.

Thank you so much for all your input. I am currently looking at home rentals in the area of Portstewart. How does that work in line with the sites we want to see. Would love also suggestion for 1 golf course. My husband and daughter will want to play once. Would like one that is reasonably priced. We are also looking at doing the Gobbins Cliff Path. Does anyone have info on that? Again Thanks

Paul thank you for the reminder about pounds. We will most likely use a credit card. Will have some pound and some Euro. Would it be pounds in the Giant Causeway area. As I was thinking I would have been back into Euro area. A bit confusing

I guess confusing was not the right choice of words. Typically I use credit, but will use a bank card to draw out a modest amount of currency in the country that I am visiting. We initially were not going to go to Northern and would not have had to worry about it, but with all the research and advice from some friends it seems the North is really what I want to see. So we will be prepared with our currency. Are you able to tell me anything about car rental. We will rent in Dublin and return, but will drive into the North. Just wondering if there is anything special I should look into to.

Thanks again

Just left our B&B at the SeaView this morning, 3 miles E of Bushmills, and did The Gobbins walk after a bit of a drive. Another Gobbins walker, who lives just outside Belfast but hadn’t done it before, said he plays golf near home 3 or 4 times a week throughout the year, except if there’s snow, in which case he said he goes up to Portrush, which will be hosting the British Open in 2019. If golf is a big goal, and proximity is important, Portrush might be ideal. The SeaView B&B worked great this trip, which isn’t including golf.
