Has anyone talked the ferry from the cliffs across to county Kerry? Is it easy to figure out? Can driver in Dublin said it would save us time from having to go all the way out to limerick and back into dingle

We've taken the ferry three times (both directions) and it's only 15 minutes to cross the mile or so of water. No reservations, just show up and get in line, which has always been short. Are you renting a car? It would be complicated using public transit.
Google Maps actually says the ferry route is longer, but it doesn't handle ferry wait-times very well,. There is a published schedule, but it basically runs back and forth continuously.

Yes - we have a rental car - the ferry is the one from Kilmer to tarbert right ?
