Getting around Dublin

When in Dublin, do most visitors find it is better to take an Uber/Lyft or a cab when needing a ride? Thanks!

I haven't done either, but some quick online research seems to indicate that Uber drivers are required to have a taxi license in Ireland (you can't drive people around for money in your private vehicle without one, like you can in the US), and prices for Uber rides are not competitive with regular taxi prices. If you want to research prices yourself, you can probably look it up through the app without actually having to book the ride. Lyft does not exist there. I'd probably just use a taxi. I also recommend seeing if the light rail (Luas) will get you where you need to go- I used it once and it was clean and convenient.

Not sure where you are trying to go, but from the airport we took the airlink bus and it dropped us off around the corner from our B&B. There is also the dart train that gets you around the city.

You might want to look up what "needing a ride" means in Ireland.

Depending on where you want to go, you can walk or take the bus/train/tram. If requiring a taxi then wave one down.

Taxis and Ubers in Dublin are essentially the same. Only difference is how you pay and whether tip is included. Dublin city centre is easy to get around by foot or light rail. Because of congestion, walking and light rail within the city centre is faster than a car. Train is faster outside the city centre.

I used ubers pretty extensively in Dublin last month and would definitely recommend it. Pricing is about the same as cabs and you don't have to deal with cash.

If the light rail (LUAS?) has a stop near your accommodation, it's very convenient as well. A ride costs something like 2 Euros and can get you all over Dublin. I mostly just entered the destination into the Maps app on my iphone, and swiped over to the tab for transit instructions and never had an issue. Enjoy! It's a super fun city.
