General City Tips and Day Tours from Dublin/Belfast

Hello all, I will be traveling to Ireland solo mid-late June for 4 nights before continuing on to a longer family trip in Scotland. International flight gets into Dublin on the 21st and I am flying out of Belfast to EDI on the 25th so I am planning on 2 nights in each Dublin and Belfast. I am in my mid-twenties, love museums/architecture/nature, and plan on enjoying traditional Irish music alongside some traditional Irish drinks.

First question is whether the day trips from Belfast to Giant's Causeway and other coastal sights are worth it. They all seem touristy, but may give a taste of the countryside for future trips. Secondly, I am planning on taking the commuter train from Dublin -> Belfast, are there any stops directly on the route that are easy and worth making? I am open to any and all other recommendations for the two cities. Thank you all!

Due to large crowds, rules at the Giants Causeway have recently changed. Buses need to drop you off further away and it is a longer walk.

I think there is enough to see in Belfast to fill your time. I would suggest a Taxi Tour of the Troubled areas. Very interesting.

I wouldn't suggest any stops on the train. There is so much to see in Dublin and Belfast that you will find your time easily filled up in those two ciites.

If you want to visit the Kilmainham Gaol, and I highly recommend it, you need to make reservations as the time slots fill up.
