Genealogy Help in County Kerry

My ancestor is from County Kerry according to his obituary. Is there a research center in the County of Kerry? Any experience with this center in doing genealogical research?

John Griffin born in 1816 in County Kerry, emigrated in 1839 (at age 23), lived in New York City for a short while, moved to Rome New York and died there in 1892 (according to his obit)
Thanks in advance.

Church records are your best bet. Kerry Diocese: Kerry Genealogy Research Centre at Bishops House on New Street in Killarney. More info available on line. I myself have not been there...but one of Ireland's major occupations is genealogy so you should have luck; especially if you make connections before you go.

Hi Linda,

I am also researching my family lineage and have commissioned a professional genealogist, which you can find on this website:

I am looking specifically in Country Wexford, but this page has links to a wealth of resources you can use to do research online for free:

Here is another website offering a free toolkit for locating Irish ancestors:

Best of luck!

One of my neighbors here in Waterville, County Kerry is a professional - would you like his contact info? I have no idea what he charges but I wouldn't thiks it's too crazy....

What is the last name? I may be able to narrow it down. O'Sullivan? O'Shea? Curren? -- near me there are lots..... Sullivan? without the O -- another area....
