Galway Vs. Ballyvaughan

I will be traveling from Annascaul and have 3 nights to spare before I fly out of Dublin.

I am planning on heading north of Dingle to the Cliffs of Moher then keep heading to either Ballyvaughan or Galway.

Is it worth traveling all the way to Galway or should I stay in Co. Clare for the last two nights of my trip?

It depends on what experiences and activities you're looking for. If you want peace and quiet, and to do a lot of hiking, and are interested in the Burren environment, I'd say Ballyvaughan. If you want a taste of city life, then Galway.

Let us know what you are looking for on those days and we can advise. Fairly busy city with pubs, music and shops or quiet, wild Ireland with a small intimate village ?

Btw .... Just a thought since you'll be in Clare......consider going to the Cliffs of Kilkee over Moher. Moher is beautiful but filled w tour buses, wandering hoards of tourists and gift shops. Kilkee is free, utterly wild, far more stunning views in my view and hardly a person in sight. It is awesome wild Ireland. Kilkee is tied for me with Dun Anghosa for the 2nd best Cliffs in Ireland......the Cliffs of Kerry #1 and the Cliffs of Moher beautiful but not even in the running. Moher is just very well promoted as a must see for tourists.......certainly not a bad spot but far from the best.

Anyway let us know your hopes for those days.

Thanks for the quick replies, questions and suggestions. Coming from Los Angeles, CA my everyday is city life so I'm definitely looking forward to peace and quiet, rural, wild Ireland for this trip.

That said, I do love small boutique shops. Being able to walk to get coffee, artist/creative spaces, etc. Not sure if there's somewhere to split the difference?

Ballyvaughan offers all that and would be ideal. There are plenty of pubs, shops, restaurants but in a much less stressful setting by a little harbor. We visited there and loved it but didn't spend the night though I'd really like to. You get "real" Ireland with the music, pubs and restaurants that can enhance a stay.

Galway is really pretty as a city goes but it is busy and is a full fledged city.

Many small villages boast a pub or restaurant or two but Ballyvaughan would be a great place to stay, use as a base and have plenty to do for a few nights stay in the town itself with its more numerous shops, pubs and restaurant options. Very highly recommended !!!!!
