Galway to Dingle without a rental car.

My husband and I are not able to rent a car as we are both 76. We are both in good shape.
I am looking for the easiest way to get to Dingle from Galway in early June. I have looked at Rome2Rio, ( train , bus , and bus for 6 1/2 hours), but wondering if anyone knows of an alternative.

We cannot afford a private driver at 720 Euros each! Seems like there would be a local person who might transport tourists at a cheaper price.
Thanks for your help.

Galway and Dingle are far apart enough that I’d be surprised to find a local person to transport tourists, unless it was a private driver doing a private tour. It could depend on the rental company, but I understand that rentals to drivers over 75 is possible, but could require documentation that one drives regularly, and hasn’t had any recent accidents. One rental outfit, My Irish Cousin, could be a possibility, but you’d want to compare their prices with any other options. We looked at them last year, but their included insurance made it much more costly than Dollar, which we used - and we’re still under 76.

Maybe not a reasonable option, but in June 2011 we rented bicycles (in our 50’s/60’s) and rode from Galway to Tralee, with a ferry boat transport in between, then a bus to Dingle. That took many days, not part of a day, and lots of pedaling up and down hills, plus some riding in the rain. It was an adventure, and I’m glad to have done it, despite some of the challenging parts.

We used Bagley Tours. They taxied us from Galway to Dingle. Shoot them an email or call them.
