Galway B&Bs

I am thinking of going on the 7-day RS Ireland tour in late June/July and would like to stay 2 nights in Galway before the trip begins. Looking at the latest RS guidebook for Ireland, he lists two B&Bs: Petra House and Balcony House. I could not determine from the former's website whether there is availability for the dates I wanted, so I emailed them this morning and will wait for a response. When I went to the Balcony House website, I got a security warning so I emailed them only to have it bounce. Have they gone out of business?

Any other recommendations for B&Bs or hotels near Eyre Square?

I can’t tell you about the status of the others, but we had a great stay at the Petra House. If they have availability, I’d highly recommend them, for their facilities and location. I hope you get a successful reservation at a suitable B&B.

We stayed at Petra House this past summer (2024) and it was great! Highly recommended! We were able to book online without any difficulties, as I remember. Hopefully you’ll receive a reply from your email. Note that Petra House isn’t in the center of the business district of Galway/Eyre Square. This probably made it more peaceful and quiet! But we were able to easily walk into town (5-8 min) to shops and restaurants. Petra House did have parking, so it was nice to leave the car and walk to dinner.

No knowledge on Balcony House.

We enjoyed 7 Boutique Hotel although the stairs were a little narrow and steep - might be a problem with huge bags. Recently restored older building in a King Arthur theme.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I heard back from Petra House which offered me a great deal on a single room for 99 euros/night, which includes a full breakfast. What a deal. Glad to hear high praise for that B&B. I'll be booking it!
